My Mid-Year Skincare Product Log 2

My Mid-Year Skincare Product Log 2

posted in: LIFESTYLE | 0

I had done a small review of my skincare products last year around this time, so I thought it’d be a good idea to do one again.

This time I’m not planning to put down an exhaustive list of products I use because I’ll be reviewing them in subsequent posts. Instead, I’ll just focus on face care and tell you how each product compares to prior ones.

Daytime skincare routine

I don’t have a lot of time in the morning and therefore I stick to an effective though basic skincare routine.

Olay Regenerist Advanced Anti-Ageing Micro-Sculpting Cream SPF 30 is what I’m using on my face right now. I really liked the Regenerist night cream and therefore decided to give the day cream a try. Last year, I broke out towards the end of the year and it looked like a case of adult acne. So I ditched all my fancy creams and started using basic Olay 7 Effects (it’s been my go-to for years) night and day and my skin cleared up. I’m now scared to wander too far away from Olay.

Olay Total Effects 7 in One Anti-ageing Eye Cream is my current eye cream. I started using it because I liked the idea of a glass tub of eye cream, but I think I’ll go back to using Olay Regenerist Eye Lifting Serum from the tube after this gets over. That one was way silkier.

Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula Lip Balm SPF 15 in Cherry is soothing my lips nowadays. Ok, for the longest time (think five years), I’ve been using Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula with Vitamin E Cream on my lips. That’s one huge tub (meant to be used on the body) and my lips have never been softer. It’s too oily for my skin but it’s perfect for my lips. The current lip balm is good but I’ll go back to the tub once I’m done with this.

Night skincare routine

My night routine hasn’t changed much in years. I always use a maximum of three or four (i.e. if I use toner or serum) products. I just can’t seem to get into the whole ten-product layering business.

Dr. Sheth’s Antioxidant Repair Cream is what I use on my skin. I loved the packaging and ingredients but I wasn’t sure how it’d react to my skin. Thankfully, it’s been kind to me. The rich cream reminds me of Ponds cold cream, but it smells lovely and leaves my skin moist and plump. And I don’t know if I’m imagining it, but I feel that my skin is brighter in the morning.

Olay Total Effects 7 in One Anti-ageing Eye Cream for the eyes. I’m really not cool enough to get a separate eye cream for night.

Kottakal Kumkumadi Thailam patted over the repair cream. I’ve talked about this oil in a previous article on Ayurvedic oils.

And this is the final result of all that effort.

Not bad for 38 years if I can say so myself. But then again, I am chubby and nothing makes your skin look good like a bit of fat. Talk about silver linings.
